You Send Us Shirts. We Send Back a T Shirt Quilt. Here's Exactly How It Works.
Jun 22, 2026
You've got the pile of shirts. The ones from college. The race you ran in 2009. Your kid's first soccer season. The concert tee you can't throw away but haven't worn in a decade. They've been sitting in a drawer, a bin, or the back of a closet — and you've been meaning to do something with them.
That something is a Project Repat t-shirt quilt. And the process is a lot simpler than you might think.
Here's exactly what happens from the moment you decide to order to the moment you unwrap something your family will keep for generations.
Step 1 — Place Your Order
Head to projectrepat.com and build your quilt in about five minutes. You'll choose your size (we offer several options depending on how many shirts you have), your fleece border color, and your layout. That's it. No phone calls, no back-and-forth — just a clean, simple ordering process that puts you in control of how your quilt will look.
Pro tip: Not sure how many shirts you have? Our size guide walks you through exactly how many shirts fit each quilt size, so you don't have to guess.
Step 2 — Get Your Shipping Label
Once your order is placed, you'll receive a link to purchase our state-of-the-art tech shipping label and packing slip — complete with a QR code that makes it easy to print right at home. No special printer required. Box up your shirts, attach the label, and drop the package off at your nearest shipping location. That's the last thing you have to do.
We handle everything from here.
Step 3 — Your Shirts Arrive at Our Facility in Morganton, NC
Your box lands at our production facility in Morganton, North Carolina. Our team opens every single package and checks every shirt — making sure everything arrived safely and is accounted for before production begins. Nothing gets missed.
This is also where we match your shirts to your order details: your chosen size, layout, and border color. Every quilt is treated as the one-of-a-kind piece it is.
Step 4 — Cut, Sewn & Assembled by Hand
This is where the magic happens. Expert cutters at Opportunity Threads — a worker-owned cooperative right here in North Carolina — cut each shirt to size and assemble your quilt entirely by hand. Every panel is placed with care. Every seam is sewn with intention.
Opportunity Threads is more than just a production partner. They're a worker-owned business that provides living-wage jobs in a community that needs them. When you order a Project Repat quilt, you're supporting American manufacturing and a model of business that puts workers first.
Steps 5 & 6 — Quality Checked, Then Shipped Back to You
Before your quilt leaves our facility, it goes through a thorough quality check. We want to make sure everything looks exactly as it should — the layout, the stitching, the border — before it's folded, wrapped, and shipped back to your door.
When it arrives, you'll unwrap something that isn't just a blanket. It's a timeline of your life. A collection of moments that used to live in a drawer and now live on your couch, your bed, or in the arms of someone you love.
Ready to Start?
If you've had "make a quilt out of my shirts" on your to-do list for longer than you'd like to admit, now's the time. The process takes about five minutes to kick off, and we take care of the rest.
